Black & White Photos vs Colour
By rowarrior
Colour photos are great – you can zoom in and see every shade and nuance in a single flower, however if the subjects of your photos rather unobligingly clad themselves in colours that clash, you can be faced with a bit of a problem. The easiest solution to this can be to convert your colour photos into black and white ones – grey tones don't clash!
Converting your colour photos is obviously going to be easiest if you are at least starting with digital pictures, however if you have a scanner, you can always scan in your prints and then convert them. Once you have your picture ready to be converted, have a look in your tools and see if you can see an option to remove colour (In Photoshop this is in the ‘Tools' menu under ‘Adjust/Enhance Colour'). Select this and your photo should now be in black and white. At this point you may want to play around a little with the brightness and contrast settings, as it may be quite dark.
Black and white film is another option, and can be quite fun to play around with - you can even develop it at home! Personally I think that it favours still shots as opposed to action, but experiment for yourself and find out.
