Babies

Angel

Gift from Heaven, she sleeps in my arms.
Delicate lids and long long lashes
Hide the bluest of eyes.
Precious rosebud lips,
Dimpled chin and elbows,
Chubby feet with perfect pink toes ~
A body in miniature
Lies heavily and, oh, so warm in my lap.
Exhausted from the day's work of
Gazing,
Touching,
Growing,
Learning,
A soft sigh escapes.
Her tiny hand grips my finger tightly.
Smiling, I kiss her
Gently,
My sweet angel baby.

Baby Hands

Lovely dainty baby hands
Soft and sweet and pure.
Some day these hand will belong
To a woman confident and sure.

But for now these tiny little hands
With fingers so delicately formed
Reach out to touch a hand
That is large and rough and worn.

Her Grandpa's hands are worn
And so many times larger than her two.
Scratches, roughness and calluses
Are really nothing new.

His hands have seen a lot more years
And have comforted kids of his own
And little ones find comfort there
Placing on his loving hand their own.

Baby's First Christmas

What a wonderful day this will be!
Our family all gathered around
Baby's first Christmas tree!

The lights are lighted
The decorations are hung
The stockings are ready
With one tiny one!

We have lots of tiny packages
With cute little toys
Some are soft and chewy
While others make noise.

We have waited forever
For this day to come
For no Christmas is as special
As a baby's very first one!

Baby's First Word

How can two little syllables
Mean so much?
How many hearts
Has this little word touched?
How many hearts has it turned to mush?

How many little ones with their arms
Reaching up to mommy's face
Have uttered those sweet sounds
At their mommy's sweet embrace?

Mama is such a tiny word
But very few have impact such as this
For to a mommy's listening heart
It is like the sweetest kiss.

Bringing Baby Home

You are my child, my daughter
My little baby girl
And I love you more, my little one
Than anything in this world.
How could I be so blessed
As to receive a gift like you?
It only goes to prove
Dreams really do come true!

I look at you in your car seat
As we are driving home
And realize that this very moment
Is the happiest I've ever known!

I dream big dreams for you
Though you are so tiny now
But I know that big dreams come true
Especially, I know that now!

I dream of a life that is full of joy
And a life that is fun to live.
I dream for you a heart full of love
One that is quick to forgive.

Oh, little one, my heart is so full
Of love and dreams and such
That to be sure that you aren't just a dream
I have to reach out and touch!

So rest little one and soon we'll be home
And you can snuggle all safe in your bed
And dream the dreams that babies dream
While they're being all cuddled and fed.

As for my dreams for you, precious one
I know they will all come true
For the biggest dream I ever could have dreamed
Was the dream I dreamed of you!

First Christmas

Look at the sparkles in your eyes!
How wonderful to see
As in awe and wonder
You see the lighted Christmas tree!

Look at the smile on your sweet face
Oh I love that look!
Your tiny little face looks like
A picture in a book!

Your little arms reaching out to us
For hugs and cuddles and such
Remind us of the Christmas joy
That we can hold and touch!

Quite lovely for one to see
Are the lighted ornaments on our tree
But better yet and more precious still
Is the precious face I see!

I've recorded this moment in my mind
And in my heart today
This is a moment I'll treasure forever,
The memory of your first Christmas Day!

First Smile

The photographer captured your image
Digitally and on film
All the relatives oh-hed and ahhed
Over the photos done by him!

They said it looked just like you
And wasn't the photograher smart...
But the very first image I have of you
Was captured in my heart.

The moment I first saw you
And looked into your tiny face
A snapshot was permanently implanted
In a very tender place.

A mommy's heart stores precious things
To ponder all life through
And among the treasures hidden there
Is the very first smile from you

Food for (Baby) Thoughts

I love to drink a bottle
I love the taste of milk
Although if I burp it up
It ruins the look of silk!

I love the taste of carrots
But hate the taste of peas
If you give me pudding
You are sure to please!

Someday I will be big enough
To eat food that's not in jars
I look forward to those big ole steaks
And chocolate candy bars!

But for now I am content
To be fed that squishy stuff
As long as I get to eat until
My tummy says ''enough"

I Hold My Newborn Grandson

I hold my newborn grandson
In my well-worn hands
Hoping that their roughness
He will understand.

How soft and tender is his skin
How sweet and innocent is he
I cuddle him next to my chest
He means the world to me!

If only time could slow down a bit
And let this moment last
I would shed tears of contentment
For this time moves much too fast!

But for now I hold my little one
And nuzzle his furry head
Content for one brief moment
For my arms to be his bed!

I Loved You Before

I loved you before I even saw you
And I saw you with my heart
Before I saw you with my eyes.

I loved you before you were conceived
Because I had known forever
That someday you would be born.

I loved you during every moment of every day
As I carried you in my womb
And could hardly wait until my arms were filled
With a tiny bundle of you!

I loved you during labor with every pain filled breath
I breathed a prayer that you would be born healthy
And safe and strong.

I loved you before and I loved you during
And I will love you forever and ever after.

I Love You More (Boy Version)

Do you know how much I love you?
I tell you every day
But just in case you don't remember
Let me once more say:

I love you more than flowers
That bloom around the garden gate
More than the sight of ducklings
That go swimming in the lake.

I love you more than moonbeams
That shed their light on you
More than the summer sunshine
Or the morning dew!

I love you more than all the songs
And all the ones that sing them
More than all the earthly gifts
And the holidays that bring them.

I love you more than a wealth of diamonds
Gold and silver can't begin to match my joy
I love you more than life itself...
My Precious Baby Boy!

I Love You More (Girl Version)

Do you know how much I love you?
I tell you every day
But just in case you don't remember
Let me once more say:

I love you more than flowers
That bloom around the garden gate
More than the sight of ducklings
That go swimming in the lake.

I love you more than moonbeams
That shed their light on you
More than the summer sunshine
Or the morning dew!

I love you more than all the songs
And all the ones that sing them
More than all the earthly gifts
And the holidays that bring them.

I love you more than a wealth of diamonds
Or all the gold mines in the world.
I love you more than life itself...
My Precious Baby Girl!

In Awe

In awe I look at you my child
And think not only of today
But of all the tomorrows
That God will send your way.

What an awesome privlege
And responsibility
That God has entrusted
To your Daddy and to me!

In gratitude we thank our God
For blessing us with this precious family
Acknowledging in humble reverence
That this life created is for all eternity.

Oh Lord help me to prepare this precious baby
For this life that she's begun
But Father, help me to fit her for
The one that is yet to come!

Love In A Bassinet

We stand together in the doorway
Looking at your sleeping form
We have never been as happy
As we were when you were born.

You represent our love for each other
And our lives will never be the same
For the days are so much sweeter now
Since our little blessing came!

You remind us of the love
That the Father has for us too
For only a God who loves us
Would send a gift like you.

So we pinch each other
Lest we be dreaming still
And to make sure that it is true
But even our most delightful dreams
Weren't half as wonderful as you!

We finally leave the doorway
But glance back to watch you sleep
And we ask our Heavenly Father
Watch over our little one to keep.

One Year

One year ago when you were born
I knew that I would love you
But until your face I could touch
I could not know just how much!

How does one describe the depth of love
That the human heart can hold
How does one describe the worth of a heart
And the love of a baby soul?

My love for you grows deeper every day
And will continue all my days
As I see you grow and bloom dear child
In your very special way.

Precious Face

Oh what a precious little face
And what a lovely smile
I love to kiss your tiny nose
And hold you for awhile.

For when I see you tiny face
My heart does leaps and twists
Because your little sweetie face
Your mommy can't resist!

Sonogram

I could never have imagined or understood
The magic and wonder of the experience
I'm now going through....
The miracle of waiting for you.

I have placed your first portrait
In this little book
And when you are old enough
You and I will take a look.

I will take your little hand
And run it over the sonogram of you
And tell you that is what I used to do
When this first portrait was taken.

Then I will tell you how much we wanted you
And how excited we were when we heard
When we got the word
That you were going to be born.

Then I will hold you in my arms
And I will give you the kisses and hugs
That I cannot give you yet
But these precious waiting days I will never forget.

Until the day when you are born
I can only show my love by nurturing you in my womb
And keeping your tiny baby body safe and warm.
Praying that God keep you safe from harm.

God keep you safe near Mommy's heart
To rest and grow my precious little one
For in God's timing you will appear
As our brand new daughter or son!

These Baby Hands

Some day these precious baby hands
Will clutch a bride's bouquet
Will wear a wedding band of gold
Will wipe their own babe's tears away.

Someday these tiny baby hands
May know of pain and sorrow.
But for today, I will treasure each moment
And train her for Whatever will be tomorrow

Tiny Footprints

I caress your tiny baby feet
In the palm of my hand
Asking God that on these tiny feet
A courageous woman will someday stand.

I lift your lovely little hands
With fingers so dainty and pink
And my heart is so full
That my mind scarcely has room to think!

I kiss the tiny rose petals
That form each baby lip
And know that from eternity's pool
I have taken my first sip.

Oh how precious you are my little one
Each tiny fragile part!
And oh how deep the footprints youve already made
On this thankful mommys heart!

Twins

I had no idea
Of the blessing I was due
Of the precious bits of Heaven
In the tiny forms of you!
I had no idea of the miracles
God would send down to earth
I had no idea of the joy to unfold
With your precious dual birth.

I was not aware
Of all the joy I would feel
When I first saw two angels
And still can't believe you're real!

Today I sit and ponder
All the joy you've brought my way
But no matter how earnestly I try
There just are no words to say--

For how do you describe God-given love,
With beauty and innocence so rare?
How do you describe the fragrance
Of a tiny baby's hair?

How you describe the wonder
Of watching sweet babies each day
Learning, walking and talking
Spreading sunshine as they play?

I cannot find the words to say
Now will my pen expel
Adjectives of love strong enough
The love in my heart to tell.

When God Sends An Angel

When God sends an angel down to earth
We call this heavenly miracle .... birth.
You grow sweeter with each passing day
How much you're loved...no words can say.
We hold your hand and you hold our heart
From the innermost tender part.
We watch you with love beyond what we've known
Amazed at what our love has sown.
This first year ends and we celebrate anew
The joy God brought us when He sent us YOU!
