August Fun Stuff To Do!! All ideas submitted by Jeanine (moosassah)! Thanks, Jeanine!

August. 1 ~ Girlfriend's Day--Why not treat your special friends to a little thinking of you card in the mail? It sure beats bills & will definitely make them smile on this day.

August 3 ~ National Watermelon Day--You're gonna grow a watermelon in your belly if you don't stop swallowin' all those seeds! Sure I am! I can't even grow them in the ground! Watermelon photos and paperpiecings come together quickly for a great summer time LO. Use up some scraps & make some smiles.

August 6 ~ Friendship Day--Old friends, new friends, people that let you be U friends. Get together for a night of cropping with your friends & let the good times roll while you use up supplies!

August 7 ~ National Lighthouse Day--Back to the beach. Summer will come to an end soon, but not in your albums. Work on some beach photos today. Lighthouse paper piecings can be made very quickly (not as quickly as the watermelon though).

August 9 ~ Book Lover's Day--I'm guessing that this is meant for companies like Barnes & Noble or Borders, but we're scrappers around here. There are many great idea books out there--possibly even at your local library. Treat yourself to one today (hopefully with a 40% off coupon) and learn some new techniques.

August 10 ~ National S'mores Day--Who needs convincing?! Fire up that grill or get the campfire going & let's melt some chocolate! There's little better than goofy marshmallow & chocolate smeared teethy smiles for your albums! If you're taking pictures around a campfire, don't forget to check out some low light settings on your camera. Learn a new trick & come up with some amazing shots.

August 11 ~ Son & Daughter Day--There's Mother's Day, Father's Day so of course the kids' need their day too. Give your kids a great big hug today & thank them for being everything they are. Then tell them to go clean their rooms

August 13 ~ Left Hander's Day--They say that lefties are more creative than righties. Something about how their brains are wired. If you're a lefty announce it today with pride and show us your most recent creation.

August 15 ~ Relaxation Day--Sit back, put your feet up, make sure your drink is within arm's reach. Ahhhhh, that's it. And exhale...you've got it. Now enjoy it.

August 17 ~ National Thrift Shop Day--Americans discard just about everything they buy within 2 years of the initial purchase. If you're lucky you'll find amazing buys at your local thrift stores. Looking for mason jars for ribbon? Chances are you thrift store has a 100 of them. Need a cheap table or book shelf for the scrap area? They've got that too. Don't forget to scan the bins of left over craft/sewing supplies for an endless treasure chest of possibilities.

August 18 ~ Bad Poetry Day--We have Thena so Bad Poetry is never an option with her around. Her book is available in Michaels now too. But sometimes it's fun to make up your own poems even if you're no Shakespeare. Just leave the man from Nantucket on the island!

August 25 ~ Kiss & Make Up Day--A kiss is never just a kiss! Even if you're not in need of making up give up the kiss today.

August 26 ~ Women's Equality Day--You've come a long way baby! What makes your own life so different from that of your mom's or even grandmothers? It could make a fascinating page for a book of me.

August 27 ~ Just Because Day--sure sounds like a plug for the IDOS RADs group to me! Go through your supplies & spread the wealth...just because. If you don't already belong, sign up & join in the fun.

August 29 ~ More Herbs, Less Salt Day--We'll end the month on a little here's to your health note. Even Chia makes an herb garden for your kitchen window sill. The more you learn to cook with herbs the less salt (even NO salt) you'll need in your foods. It's the little steps that will help you feel better. If you don't know anything about herbs & don't want to try your hand at growing them then stick to store bought. There are many combination mixes that take the guess work out of cooking. If you're interested in growing your own start simple with things like oregano, basil, chives. Kids love to grow herbs because they require little work & produce flowers that bring butterflies.
