January 2006
January ~ the beginning of a new year! All ideas submitted by Jeanine (moosassah)! Thanks, Jeanine!
Jan. 15 ~ National Hat Day
Some people live under a hat, others hate ‘em. Is there a stock pile of baseball caps in your house? More often than not there's a lucky hat. Has it earned its way into your scrap album yet?
Jan. 16 ~ Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday
Celebrated on the third Monday. He is considered one of the greatest activists of all time. Doing something kind for a neighbor or your community would be a great way to honor his memory.
Jan. 19 ~ National Popcorn Day
Do you microwave? Hot air? On the stove?
Jan. 20 ~ Penguin Awareness Day
Penguins got a lot of press in the last year with Madagascar & Penguins the movie. Celebrate the day with a trip to the zoo or aquarium. If your love of penguins is lacking, try doing a layout in black & white or with b&w photos.
Jan. 21 ~ National Hugging Day
Once upon a time I found this quote, “You can't put love in a box, but you can wrap a person in a hug." I have no idea who said it, but someday it will end up in a layout -- maybe yours.
Jan. 21 ~ Squirrel Appreciation Day
My kids are nuts about squirrels. They love to feed them popcorn & stale bread. Why not make squirrel sandwiches today & let the kids giggle their heads off while the squirrels have a tea party.
Jan. 23 ~ Measure Your Feet Day
Do you hate feet? Lots of people do! Somebody must love them or this day wouldn’t have been created. Great day to take foot prints for a layout.
Jan. 25 ~ Opposite Day
There are lots of ways to spend opposite day. Try doing a LO in colors you wouldn’t normally use—the exact opposites of your typical picks. If you normally handwrite your journaling trying printing it. Never use patterned paper? Today's your day!
Jan. 29 ~ Chinese New Year
Check your local paper for opportunities to share in the celebration of the year of the dog. Children will be delighted with the intricate costumes, fireworks & dancing dragons seen at many of the festivities.
