May. 1 ~ May Day is a day to celebrate Spring & the coming of Summer. Really, Summer is on its way! Grab your camera and step outside. Capture Spring in your yard or neighborhood. Enjoy the day, the flowers and do a dance around the Maypole.
May 5 ~ Cinco de Mayo is celebrated much like St. Patrick's Day only it's a lot spicier Truly a celebration of Hispanic Culture, filled with dance, great food & great times. Check your recipe swap books for meals, drinks or desserts that'll make tonight's dinner bueno!
May 6 ~ National Scrapbook Day...do I really need to make any suggestions here??? LOL
May 9 ~ National Teacher's Day. Every person has at least one teacher that will forever be in their hearts. Your child may be in school with that teacher right now. Ask your child if they'd like to do something special for their teacher. Altering items is a great way for kids to express themselves & make a useful gift all at the same time.
May 10 ~ Clean Up Your Room Day. This obiviously means your scrap room. It's a National Holiday. You are obligated to dedicate time today to finding your scrap area again. I dare you to take a before and after photo and post it on the sbr bb.
May 11 ~ Eat What You Want Day must have been created by someone sick of the grapefruit diet. Summer is coming. Many of us fear bathing suits. Today, forget about it. Go ahead! Eat what you want. If you ask the kids you may be serving Twinkies & ice cream for dinner though.
May 14 ~ Mom's Day. Remember those handprints & poems the kids would come home with from school? And how you choked back tears because that little smiling face was so proud of their creation? Make your mom a card & get it into the mail. While you're at it make one for Grandma too. Don't forget yourself either. When was the last time you got a family portrait? Have you ever made a LO of what it feels like to be a mom? What does it mean to you? Happy Mother's Day
May 16 ~ National Chocolate Chip Day. Celebrating a day of chocolate chips is too easy. This is the perfect opportunity for some fun in the kitchen. Take 1 family, add flour & chips, don't forget the camera and you've got another LO in the making.
May 19 ~ National Bike to Work Day. I'm guessing that this holiday doesn't get celebrated enough. It's about energy conservation & reducing pollution. Even if you can't bike to work, give some thought to one thing you could do to make the world a better place today.
May 21 ~ National I Need a Patch for That Day. This holiday is probably only a few years old, but it simply could not be left off the list. I'll be opening a thread that day to see what exactly you need a patch for...it should keep us giggling throughout the day.
May 24 ~ Tiara Day. Dust off those diamonds & rubies ladies & don your tiara with pride. Today is an extraordinary day & no hat will do. Think of the looks you'd get during your Walmart run! How fun would it be to get those faces on camera?
May 27 ~ Sunscreen Day. We love you too much not to mention the importance of sun screen. Skin cancer is no joke. Protect you. Protect your family. It's simple.
May 29 ~ Memorial Day. Go out to a parade today. Show your support. Remember those who have fought and given their lives for our country & freedom. Send up a prayer for those still fighting & hopefully the spirits that we celebrate today will be listening & help them get home safely.
