Ode To Lumpy Scrapbooks

Written by Thena Smith

As I peruse the mags I get
One thing has crossed my mind
Scrapping is getting lumpier
With diverse items you may find!

I got away from lumpy stuff
And went to acid free
I  stopped using tape and rubber cement
And used what was meant to be!

I was so proud that I had followed
The Scrapbooking gurus' advice
I was rather proud of this
And thought my pages nice!

One day I happily opened up
The bible of the scrapbooking books
Be still my heart what did I see...
Gadgets staring back at me!!

There were wires and strings and eyelets
All on a single page
And ribbons, raffia and beads....
Well, these seemed all the rage!

I spied pieces of colored glass
On a page that exuded class
And felt was on a page or two
And leather used to make a shoe!

So at the grocery store I paused
In the spaghetti aisle
Grabbed a pack to do my daughter's page
In a grand attachment style!

And in the fabric store I found
You can buy buttons by the pound
And zippers (you don't have to flinch)
You can buy them by the inch!

So as I go up and down the aisle
I may look calm -I may even smile
But inside I'm looking to enhance a page
With what might be the latest rage!

So disregarding all the rules
I'm off to the hardware store today
I'm doing a Bob the Builder page
Just how do I make a hammer stay?

I'm going to nail a piece of wood
Onto the page (It should look good!)
And then I'll use a piece of the floor
To enhance it even more!

Just where will all this stuff end
When will we be lump free again?
I confess the answer I do not know
And my lumpy pages are starting to grow!
