Nature/Outdoors

Bathing Birdies

Oh look who has come to play with me!
A little birdie...can you see?
I tested the water and it is fine
So come on in little friend of mine!

Baths Are For Birds

I see a little bath tub
As cute as it can be
It's a bathtub for a bird...
It's much too small for me!

Little bird do you have a toy
To bring to the bath with you?
I don't have a toy bird
Will a rubber duckie do?

I see your bath is ready
And don't want to make you wait
Just wanted to let you know
I think your tub is great!

Campers

I love the sounds of nature
And the freedom of a camp site.
I love to see those bugs with little lanterns
That circle round about us in the night.

I love the feel of freedom
From the list of a million household chores
And if it were not for those mosquitoes
I would love it even more!!

Fond Farewell To Freddie Frog

A Fond Farewell to Freddie
We are so sad to see you go
But wild things should be set free
My mommy told me so!

Forgive me Freddie if I cry
But I'm too young to see
Exactly why my favorite frog
Would prefer to be set free!

Frogs

My mommy doesn't like frogs, snakes or mice
But as for me...
I think frogs are nice!
Frogs like to live in a stream
And they are nice
And never mean!

But if you tell a frog a joke
It can't laugh
Might make it

croak.....

I Love My Garden

I love my garden
I can sit there and think.
There are no dishes there
Staring back from the sink.

I love my garden
Each plant and each flower
I could sit there and daydream
Hour upon hour.

I love my garden
I love each pebble and rock
My troubles melt away there
And I don't watch the clock.

I love my garden
It's just what I was needing
Now if my lovely garden
Were only self weeding....

I Love Ladybugs

Oh, how I love a ladybug
They are special
Don't you see?
They are little ladies
And are so beautiful to me!

Don't like worms or tadpoles
Don't like slimy slugs
But I love the dainty creature
That is called a lady bug!

I Love Worms

Mommy doesn't understand
My love for bugs and worms
Whenever I bring home a "friend"
My mommy shudders and squirms!

Worms are such a wonderful pets
That never run away
You find them a nice pail of earth
And there the worms will stay!

A butterfly will fly away
And has to be out and free
But when I find a big ole worm
He has to stay with me!

I put them in my pockets
And take them around with me
To show them all the places
I think a worm would like to see!

I'd like to show the worms my room
And keep them in with me
But as for now, I'm sad to say
My mommy doesn't agree!

I Love To Play In The Grass

How nice to play in the grass
And let it tickle my feet and toes.
I like to put my face to the grass
And feel it tickle my nose!

I like to check each tiny blade
For friends that may be there
So many teeny tiny creatures
Live in the grass we share.

Some days are fun to sit in the sun
And watch as the sky goes past.
But on any day that I may
How I love to play in the grass!

On Contemplating The Dandelion

You see only weeds
and make plans to pull or spray,
"Ugly things, polluting my green lawn."
I look through child's eyes and say,
"Oh, please, let them grow."
Cheerful yellow delights,
polka-dotting the landscape.
Perfect
for picking by the handful,
weaving into chains,
making wishes,
brushing golden dust on nose and chin.
Magic flowers,
transforming overnight
from bright little lion's heads
to silky balls of fluff
poised
to float away
at the slightest puff.
Thank You,
God,
for dandelions.

Picnic In The Park

Oh what fun to picnic in the park!
Oh what a wonderful way
To enjoy the sun and have some fun
And spend a lovely day!

Oh what fun to sit in the grass
And drink lemonade in the shade!
What fun to eat from a picnic basket
Things so lovingly made!

But the the most special thing
That ever I could do
Is to go on a picnic
In the park with You

Pretty Little Lady

Pretty little lady
Dressed in your Sunday best
All dolled up in red
With black dots upon your vest!

I hold you on my hand
Wish I could give a hug
To my dainty little friend
A little ladybug!

Rocks

I love to look for rocks
And take them home with me!
A rock is such fun to play with
I think every kid will agree!

You can build castles and bridges with rocks
Or you skip them across the lake
And with a sling made of wood and rubber
What fun a rock can make!

A rock is sturdy and hard to break
But small enough to be fun.
They come in all sizes and shapes
Enough to please everyone!

Rocks are found most everywhere
And don't cost Mommy a cent!
But even if rocks cost a dollar a piece
It would be money well spent!!!

Tree Climber

I love those warm summer days
So that I can go outside and play
Enjoying the sun and a summer breeze
While laying in the grass or climbing trees!

I love to stand on tippy toe
And stretch as far as I can
So that the lowest branch
Is finally within my hand!

I love to pull myself up
Climbing limb to limb so high
Until I feel like part of the tree
Framed against the sky!

I feel like a bird as I look around
Closer to the sky than to the ground!
I think a bird must really be blessed
To live in a tree in a warm little nest!

Walking In The Rain

The raindrops splash
All around
Landing on my face
And on the ground

They get me wet
From head to toe
And when I walk
My footprints show.

My eyelashes drip
And drops slide down my nose
Only my big old boots
Keep water from my toes!

But even as I walk
And look up toward the sky
While the outside of my nose is wet
The inside of my nose is dry.

So, I have a silly question
Though I wish it were profound
Do you suppose that
we would drown?
If God had built our noses
up
side
down

Woolly Little 'Pillar

Wooly little Caterpillar
Where are you going
I see you in the sunshine
But never when it's snowing!

I think you are so beautiful
And I think it's really neat
That you have lots of tiny legs
But you have no feet!!
