A New Year Has Started

A new year has started
We have a brand new year
The old one held for us many a joy
And many a heartache and tear.

Each year we have some trials
That could easily weigh us down
Could place deep sadness within our hearts
And create a permanent frown.

But along with the trials comes the good
That blesses us to the core
And those things are the precious ones
That in our hearts we store.

I took no photo of the years end--
But that doesn't bother me, you see--
For the future has started already
And may hold wonderful things for me!
