Invention Of Paper Tearing

Written by Thena Smith

Bobbie watched his mommy
As she worked on her scrapbook page
He was too young to understand
Why it was the latest rage!

Mommy left the room for just a minute
And Bobbie took this chance
To try his hand at mommy's page
Without being looked at askance!

He moved a paper here and a paper there
When suddenly he heard it tear
And then before he knew it
He had created a mess and couldn't undo it!

He left the room and hid himself out
When suddenly he heard a shout..
"Oh my gracious" his mommy said
And sent poor Bobbie off to bed.

She settled in to try and  repair
The torn pages that were everywhere.
She wiped her tears from each eye
And was determined not to cry.

She had sky blue and grass green
All mixed up with papers in between.
The brown was torn with edges so raw
That the inside of the papers she saw.

As she replaced a bit of blue
She noticed an interesting thing or two
How nicely two and three colors merged together
And reflected a scene of stormy weather....

Soon she began to match and mix
Instead of trying the original fix
And as she finished and stood there staring
She exclaimed..."I've just invented paper tearing!"

She ran to the local Scrapbook store
They loved her pages and wanted more!
They signed her up to teach a class
To every interested scrapping lass.

Pretty soon it was the rage
A marvel of this modern age
And people came from far and wide
To have her as their "tearing" guide.

Then one day as she reflected on the matter
She picked up her ...eyelet setter
She had an inspiration for another moment of glory...
But that my friends is another story...
