Cats

Let me tell you that...
You can never OWN a cat!
You may offer a cat a home
But he reserves the right
To be owned!

A cat, if invited right
May concede to spend the night
In your abode or residence
But being owned will not make sense.

A cat will be a haughty friend
And mixed messages may send--
One moment inviting loving pats
Then leaving without a backward glance!

A cat will turn up his nose
At the very food he chose
And go instead to someone next door
Who offers something he likes more.

And if you head for your best chair
You can bet that he'll be there
Snoozing and purring and looking so sweet
That you head for another seat.

Somedays cats can be a lot of fun
And on others they act like brats
But we put up with it all

Because we love our cats!

Cats Are A Lot Of Fun

Cats are really a lot of fun
But there are some things they do
They make us kinda crazy
For a moment or two!
For instance when you have work to do
Is when your cat wants attention from you
And you can say move or scram or shoo
But a cat just demands more of you!

And reading the paper is the call
For the cat to bat the ball
Right onto the part you are reading
And for sure some cuddling he'll be needing!

And when it's time to go to bed
Watch out where you lay your head
Cause on the blanket or on your pillow
You will find your furry little fellow!

And in the night onto your bed he'll climb
And take up so much of the space
That you will have to hug the edge
Or the railing of the bed embrace!

And why we let the kitty sleep
And worry about them waking
When all the while it is Our Bed
And OUR space they're taking!!

It all boils down to this I guess
No matter what we say
A cat is a cat is a cat

And we love our cats this way!

Cat Wash

Never ever ever think that
You can wash a dirty cat!

You may have water and a kitty
But the experience won't be pretty!

Trust me when I tell you that
It's best to have a dirty cat.....

Doggie Love

People think that dogs can't smile
But we can and often do
Every time you smile at us
Our hearts smile back at you!

People don't know that dogs can love
But our doggie love is true
Whenever you speak to us with love
Our love goes back to you!

And for those folks that wonder
If there is a special place
Like the Heaven that you speak of
That human kind will grace...

Well God created you and me
And in His Master plan
I have to think He would include
One who is best friend to man!

So don't worry about me dear humans
Cause I'm happy as can be
To have lived my life so filled
With the love you showered on me!

And when you get to Heaven
After you enter in the gate
You will see me bring my favorite toy
And I will wag my tail and wait.

If there's a separate Heaven
Where doggies go and stay
Just know that I'll be happy there
Where I can run again and play!

Friends (Memorial For A Dog)

We did everything together
From the time we were just 'pups'
You were the tiny furry one
And I was your two legged friend.
I never realized that our togetherness
Would someday have to end.

I look back with no regrets
Over the things we did together
We were true blue loyal friends
In sunshine or stormy weather.

Only one regret I had then
And forever will
I regret my precious furry friend
That you are not living still!

Many years have come and gone
And new memories have been made
But still there are sweet thoughts of you and me
Playing outside in sun or shade.

We played hide and seek
And chase the ball
And catch me if you can
And you were my spy dog
To help me find the other kids
When we played ''kick the can''.

No other dog can ever replace
The friend I had in you
Because I learned about your kind of love
I've had other 'friends' follow you.

I've loved them all in a special way
And each one is so unique
I've learned to listen to their hearts
And can almost hear them speak.

And all of this love that has come to me
I owe to you my first furry friend
For having you first in my young years
Made me treasure each loving pet
that God would send.

I Miss You

I miss your happy wagging tail...
Your bark and yes, your smile
I will not forget you my dear friend
You've been family for quite a while!

Some may scoff that I might grieve
And may not understand my pain
But my heart will not completely heal
Until I see you again!

For surely the Creator
Who gave you to us to love
Has pet accommodations waiting
In His Heaven up above!

Lucky Pup

I knew I was a lucky pup
The first time you picked me up!
You held me high up in the air
And I said a little puppy prayer!

Oh I hoped that you'd like me
And my human family you would be!
I could tell right away
That we'd have fun and romp and play!

I'm so glad that you took me home
And let me make the house my own!
I try so hard to be a good puppy
So you'll never wish you'd gotten a guppy!

Forgive me please when I mess up
Remember that I'm just a pup!
And always remember whatever I do
That a puppy's love is always true!!

My Best Friend

You are my best friend
And I love you so very much!
I love the sound of your voice
And oh, how I love your touch!

I love it when you pat my head
And when you rub my belly
And when you play ball with me
My heart turns into jelly!

Although there may be some things
That I can't understand
I understand enough to know
That a pup's best friend is MAN!

My Cat Has An Attitude

My cat has an attitude--
I call it a cat i tude.
He shows not one bit of gratitude
For his daily pampered life!
I know it may be a platitude
To discuss cats and their attitudes
But just a hint of gratitude
Would be a welcome sight!

I know a cat is very smart
And carries gooness in his heart
And I've known it from the very start
They are superior pets!

To my cat it does not occur
That he could give a gentle purr
When I stroke and brush his fur
As "thank you" for this care?

Or a gentle kiss upon the cheek
A loving game of hide and seek
"I love you" said in "Kitty Speak"
Is that too much to ask?

But will it happen??
I think not.
I will be content
With what I've got!

Playmates

Gustauf and Cozette are the best of friends
They play together every day.
I know they chat an awful lot
Though I'm not sure what they say.

Gustauf is white with curly hair
And has a boyish frame
While Cozette is very feminine
Black with a long, straight and silky mane.

They get along so very well
And every toy is a special thing.
Both of them love music
And each one loves to sing!

They have such fun together
But like siblings everywhere
Sometimes they get a bit cranky
At the things they have to share.

They love to be together
And they know we love them so
That's why they don't understand
That some places they can't go.

They sit so sadly by the door
As I go to work each day
And can't understand at all
Why I can't stay home and play.

But though I'm not their actual mommy
I take very seriously
The task of guardian to Gus and Cozy
For these puppies are special to me!

Ready For A Hug

When the day is over
And your're tired and weary
You've lots to do
And you 're in a hurry
No matter how sad
Or cross or contrary
There's someone who will curl up on the rug
And lick your face --ready for a hug!
